Hi, I’m Giovanna and I am the Principal Investigator on the Palestinian Arabic Online project. I work in the School of Education at the University of Glasgow, and I am a co-convener of the Glasgow Refugee Asylum and Migration Network (GRAMNet). I am interested in language learning, multilingualism and intercultural communication. As well as English, I speak Italian, Spanish and Furlan, a minority language spoken in the north-east of Italy. I taught Italian to speakers of other languages for 15 years, in several countries. I enjoy walking, reading and learning new things.

Salam (سلام), I’m Nazmi Al-Masri from Palestine (فلسطين) and I’m Co-Investigator on the Palestinian Arabic Online project. I work at the at the Islamic University of Gaza (IUG). My professional interests include teacher education, curriculum development and using technology in teaching the languages I master: English and Arabic. I was a member of the Palestinian National Curriculum Development Team who developed the First English Language Curriculum for Palestinian Schools.

Hi, I’m Alison and I am Co-Investigator on the Palestinian Arabic Online project. I hold the UNESCO Chair in Refugee Integration through Languages and the Arts (UNESCO-RILA). I’m based in the School of Education at the University of Glasgow, where I am also Professor of Languages and Intercultural Studies, and Co-Convener of Glasgow Refugee, Asylum and Migration Network (GRAMNet). I have twenty years of research experience in using creative and intercultural methodologies, working with international students, modern linguists, tourists, migrant communities, international NGOs. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, knitting, and reading and writing poetry.

 

Ola

My name is Ola. I’m from Gaza, Palestine, and I’m course developer for the Palestinian Arabic Online project. I have a bachelor degree in Teaching Arabic from the Islamic university of Gaza.  I’m working as an Arabic teacher at a private school, and I teach Arabic for non-native speakers at the Arabic Centre of the Islamic University. I speak Arabic and English fluently. I also have little knowledge of Turkish. I love reading and meditation.

 

Jehad

Hi everybody. This is Jehad M. Abu Jazar, and I’m course developer for the Palestinian Arabic Online project. I’ve got my BA at Islamic University of Gaza in TESOL in 2011. Since then, I’ve been teaching English at the University College of applied science in Gaza. I also teach Arabic to speakers of other languages at Arabic center of Islamic university of Gaza. I’m a contributor for We Are Not Numbers website. In addition to my passion for teaching and writing, I love learning foreign languages and acknowledging different cultures. I speak Arabic, English and a little Turkish.

Hi! I’m Grazia and I work at the University of Glasgow, School of Education. I am Research Associate on the Palestinian Arabic Online project, as well as course developer. I’m interested in language education, and in the capabilities approach. As well as English, I speak Italian, Arabic and Spanish (and I’m learning French). I have taught English as a foreign language in several countries, and I have a CELTA certificate. Although I am not a technology wizard, I love working online with our Palestinian colleagues.

Hi, I’m Lauren. I have worked at the University of Glasgow for nine years, supporting a wide range of projects including UK Research Council studentship programmes, and the University’s cross-disciplinary Strategic Research Networks, which comprises GRAMNet. I am currently the coordinator for the UNESCO-RILA Secretariat, and also project administrator for the Palestinian Arabic Online programme. 

 

Hala

Salam, I’m Hala. I’m from Gaza, Palestine. I hold a bachelor degree in Business Administration from Islamic university. I graduated in 2016. I’m working in IUG Arabic Center as a local administrator for the Palestinian Arabic Online project. I volunteered for eight months in community development institute at the Islamic University of Gaza as assistant manager. In addition, I worked for four months as assistant manager at UNRWA. I’m interested in learning languages. I speak Arabic, English and a little Turkish. I like riding horses, swimming and walking on the beach.

 

Yousef

Hi (Marĥaba مرحبا), my name is Yousef. I’m from Gaza, Palestine, and I’m course developer for the Palestinian Arabic Online project. I hold a bachelor degree in English literature from the Islamic University of Gaza. I work as a part-time lecturer at the University College of Applied Sciences. I also teach Arabic for non-Arabic speakers at the Islamic University of Gaza. I am interested in multilingualism, and online teaching. I speak Arabic, English and some Hebrew. I love reading and drawing.

Hi! I am Sahar Alshobaki from Palestine. I worked at the Islamic University of Gaza as E-learning coordinator for a year. Currently, I am course developer for the Palestinian Arabic Online project. I have studied MA in TESOL at King’s College London. I also have a CELTA certificate. I am particularly interested in using technology in teaching English, language learning motivation and identity.

Hello, I’m Esa Aldegheri and I currently work at the University of Glasgow (School of Education)as Research Associate and course developer on the Palestinian Arabic Online project. I studied Arabic at Edinburgh University and have taught English as a foreign language with my CELTA; this is a great opportunity to use my experience as both a student and a teacher of languages. I also speak Italian, Spanish and French. I have worked on projects connected with language, migration, welcome and integration for the past fifteen years. Plants, poetry and the sea make me happy.
